New Delhi. Now the CJI himself has clarified his stand regarding the request by the leaders of the India Block to meet the Chief Justice of the country (CJI) Surya Kant. Talking about the issue of the opposition alliance taking out a protest march to the Supreme Court, he shared important things about the reason for not meeting and the stand of the court.

CJI gave reasons for not meeting

Chief Justice Surya Kant informed that he had received a request for a meeting from the leaders a day earlier. While replying to the letter the same night, he had informed about the reasons due to which he was not able to give time for this meeting. However, in his official statement he did not elaborate on the specific reasons due to which the meeting could not take place.

Supreme Court doors open for everyone

The CJI said in clear words that the Supreme Court of the country is open to every citizen. Any common citizen or elected public representative can file a petition in the court under the rules. He stressed that every citizen of India has equal right to express his views in the court and seek justice.

Hearing on petitions of citizens and public representatives

When asked whether the petitions of common citizens and MPs would be heard, the CJI assured that the court will listen to the concerns of the public and whatever relief is appropriate and just within the ambit of law will be provided. He reiterated that no citizen of the country can be deprived of the right to express his views in the judicial process.
