New Delhi. Keeping in view the upcoming protests by India Block, security arrangements have been tightened in the national capital. Police and central forces have been deployed in various sensitive areas from Jantar Mantar so that law and order remains completely under control.
Security tightened and heavy force deployed at Jantar Mantar
In view of the proposed protest and march of opposition parties, the stir in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas has intensified. Sensing this, Delhi Police has made strict security arrangements. In view of this march to be taken out till the Supreme Court, Delhi Police personnel as well as contingents of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed at key places like Barakhamba Road and Mandi House. However, detailed details regarding the crowd gathering in the march, its fixed route and traffic management have not been revealed yet.
Traffic arrangements and routes affected
Due to security restrictions and demonstrations in the capital, traffic on many major routes may be disrupted. According to the traffic police, traffic diversion or restrictions may be imposed around Panchkuian Roundabout, Mandi House, Minto Road, DDU Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk, Connaught Place, Lodhi Road Flyover, Sardar Patel Marg, Bhikaji Cama Place, Ashok Road, Rail Bhawan and Patel Chowk. Passengers and drivers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and leave home with extra time while going to the railway station, bus stand or airport.
Six metro stations closed due to security reasons
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), taking a big step in view of security arrangements, has closed the entry and exit gates of six major metro stations of the capital till 4 pm today. These affected stations include Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road. Movement of passengers will be completely restricted at these stations, due to which passengers have been requested to choose alternative routes and stations for their movement.
