Cinema world shocked by Nana Patekar’s demise, last message sent to friend at midnight

Veteran Indian cinema actor Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75. He breathed his last in Goa on the morning of 8 October. According to initial information, he had suffered a serious heart attack, after which many efforts were made to save him but he could not be saved. His demise has sent a wave of mourning across the country and the art world.

Events of the last moments and efforts of doctors

Dr. Shekhar Salkar, head of the oncology department of Manipal Hospital, said that at around 2.30 in the night, Nana had sent a message to a friend informing him that he was not feeling well. By the time his friends and the emergency team reached home around 4 a.m., he was beginning to faint and was given cardiac massage. After this, he was taken to the hospital early in the morning, where doctors tried to save him for about an hour but he was declared dead between 5:20 and 5:30 in the morning.

The funeral will be held with state honors

Maharashtra Cultural Minister Ashish Shelar has announced that Nana Patekar will be cremated with state honors in view of his invaluable contribution in the field of Marathi theater and art. Pune District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi informed that as per Nana’s last wish, his last rites will be performed at his Donje village near Pune. This evening his mortal remains will be brought to his home in Donje village.

A brilliant and unmatched film journey of five decades

Nana Patekar hoisted his acting flag in Hindi and Marathi cinema for almost five decades. He was honored with the National Film Award for films like ‘Parinda’ and ‘Krantiveer’. His serious and powerful characters in films like ‘Tiranga’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’ and ‘Prahar’ left a deep impression on the hearts of the audience, while with the character of Uday Shetty in the film ‘Welcome’, he created a distinct and immortal identity for himself in comedy as well. Apart from this, his performance in Marathi cinema’s famous film ‘Natsamrat’ will always be remembered.
