Aam Aadmi Party accused of violating the dignity of Gurudwara Sahib
Top officials of the Gurdwara Management Committee, President Sardar Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Sardar Jagdeep Singh Kahlon have directly held the Aam Aadmi Party’s strategy responsible for Saturday’s incident. He claims that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his associates tried to spoil the atmosphere and raise slogans by sending political workers to religious places in a planned manner. The committee has given a formal application to the Deputy Commissioner of Police of New Delhi district in this regard, demanding strict legal action. The officials clearly said that there will be no compromise with the sanctity of Guru Ghar.
Claim of sloganeering at religious place in a planned manner
Committee representatives say that some anti-social elements had entered the campus by hiding banners and placards with objectionable slogans in their bags. As soon as they saw the right opportunity, they took out placards and started shouting slogans. Kalka and Kahlon believe that the entire incident was part of a pre-planned conspiracy, aimed at dragging the religious site into political conflict. Immediately after this, an attempt was made to create a fake narrative with the intention of tarnishing the image of Gurudwara Sahib by spreading fabricated videos on the internet media. Questions have also been raised on the role of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab AAP leadership in this episode.
Committee’s clarification on police action and decorum in the campus
Clarifying the situation on the presence and action of the police, the officials said that the security personnel had come to the campus from Ashoka Road side and after removing the miscreants, went out through the other way. He clarified that the police personnel did not reach the stairs of the Durbar Hall nor went inside the Durbar Hall or the Langar Hall. Referring to religious rules, it was told that entry into these holy places is allowed only barefoot and with head covered. The committee reiterated that devotees are welcome at the religious place, but any kind of political sloganeering will not be tolerated inside the premises.
