New Delhi. There may soon be an increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country. Bloomberg quoted Oxford Economics as saying that the government may increase the prices of petrol and diesel in the month of November. An economist at Oxford Economics wrote in a note, “We believe that there may be a last practical opportunity to increase prices in November.” After this, campaigning for the assembly elections to be held early next year will intensify. Let us tell you that in the beginning of the year 2027, assembly elections are to be held in many major states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand. Due to this, the election campaign will be intensified. Usually governments increase prices before elections to avoid any political loss. Due to the war between America and Iran and the ongoing tension in the Middle East, the price of crude oil in the international market has crossed $ 110 per barrel. Due to this, the government oil marketing companies of the country are incurring losses. They are incurring losses of around Rs 8 per liter on petrol and Rs 9 per liter on diesel. However, it is not that the prices will be increased too much at one go. According to the report, this increase in November could be almost half of the total increase of 7.5 percent in May this year. However, no official announcement has been made by the government on this yet.
